Alfred looked for you outside the bathrooms. When he walked into a clearing, he saw what he needed to see. As he stood frozen still on the dirt, drowned by the excitement of festivities and laughter of strangers, his chest ached with the sobs he’d yet to cry. The ringing and buzzing of machines in his ears faded. He couldn’t feel Jason’s arms around his neck anymore. All he knew was you and Allen sharing a tearful reunion, then his own crushing betrayal. | He didn’t like eating out back then. He was a cheapskate. But just for the opportunity to strike up a conversation, he would spare a few bucks for a coffee or a bagel. And just like any other regular customer, the staff eventually came to know him by name—Alfred, the guy who only came in for a single cup of joe. And he’d always sit in the same place. The counter in front of the kitchen door. You burst through it with a tray in hand. Alfred glances up. You flash him a smile. Making long, purposed strides to one of the booths

“You wanna know why I was robbing banks?” Mathias nodded silently, beckoning him to continue. There was really only one answer to that question. Money. The drive to survive, the purest desire in existence. Something like moral ambiguity had no place in the equation. Not that he was a saint by any means. “What do I look like, Jesus? Do I need a reason?” “Yeah, were you desperate?” “Of course I was desperate,” The redhead scoffed. “It’s always about the fucking money. Nothing else.” A waitress came by to drop off a cup of corn chowder. He watched her place it down where Mathias pointed to—right in front of him. After some hesitation, he picked up a spoon and dunked it in. The longer Allen sat here with the guy, the more doubtful he was of his intentions. “My treat.” Mathias folded his arms across the table. Seeing the other’s skeptical frown prompted him to add this. “Is it bad for me to be curious?” “No,” Allen sipped a spoonful of the hot soupy goodness before sitting up again.

Faroe Islands
Though she wore a jacket, Faroe felt chills that made the skin on her arms crawl. It couldn't be from the cold, she knew that much. In fact, it was quite warm in the van. Maybe she wasn't used to traveling in such a vehicle – she preferred her motorcycle, since she could feel the wind in her hair. Or maybe it was simply anticipation to arrive at their destination.
She looked to her right, where Iceland sat, then to Norway who sat behind him – Denmark was behind her. Sweden drove while Finland held a map in the seat beside him – the environment wasn't exactly GPS-friendly. Then again, they both seemed to know

Denmark
"Why will you not turning on, you stupid piece of – oh wait, it is on." Denmark laughed to himself. He still didn't get why they were going to use actual cameras when their phones would be much easier to use. But now that he'd gotten one of them working, he was eager to reward his efforts. Still, being a bit bulky in size, he had to hoist it onto his shoulder as he called out, "Okej! Everybody smi–" As if on cue, a sudden gust of cold made him shiver – and drop the camera onto a small pile of snow. "Oops!" he laughed again as he bent to retrieve it.
"What are you doing?" Norway asked sternly. "I thought I told you

He lingers around during the ceremony and realizes how out of touch he is with everything. A/N: Disclaimer: This is a crossover with the film, "The Place Beyond the Pines". Religious implications apply as reflective of the original work's symbolism. Feel free to skip those parts if you wish. You've been up since six when Jason woke up. Alfred got out of bed two hours later. Trotting down the stairs with the messiest bedhead of the century, he gave a loud yawn before blinking his vision back. His shirt was hiked up while he scratched his stomach. "Mornin'." There you were by the dining table, making some baby formula in a bottle. Seeing you so
